In the 2019/20 academic year, I took the Fundamentals of Teaching & Learning in Higher Education course at the University of Sussex and hopefully I will be able to turn my teaching experience into an Associate Fellowship of the U.K. Higher Education Academy (AFHEA).


At the Institute of Development Studies (IDS), University of Sussex:


MA Participation, Power and Social Change (since October 9, 2017 – until present) – MA students

Teaching assistant (part-time 4 hours per week):

  • provide general support to the Teaching Office
  • support with the preparation of course sessions
  • undertake effective communication with MA students
  • provide one-to-one/group academic support
  • teach and deliver academic skills sessions (e.g. using Zotero for academic reference management, using NVivo for literature reviews and qualitative data analysis and other research skills)
  • organise seminars and social events
  • assist in mid-term reviews


MA Gender and Development (January 31, 2020 – May 1, 2020) – MA students

Seminar Tutor (part-time for total 50 hours):

  • Tutor Research Design Spring Term module for MA Gender and Development students;
  • Attend tutor induction training and lectures on Research Design
  • Prepare and facilitate the seminar within the established module programme under the direction of module conveners
  • Record students’ attendances classes and report any problems to the module convenor
  • Provide one to one advice on MA dissertation research design outlines
